Should I how much sharpening Photoshop for beginners - a photo for printing?

What is Unsharp masking USM?

The most commonly used method of the sharpness of an image in Photoshop is to use the USM or unsharp mask filter. The Unsharp Mask filter has its roots in the traditional darkroom printing and involves increasing the contrast at the edges of the detail. On the other hand, this increase produced a perceived increase in sharpness.

How much USM should I use?

The amount of USM used to a specific image depends on several factors: as is the original image file, as is the pressure to be how good is your printer, you with glossy paper rough occurred.

Photoshop tutorial - separate colors for screen printing

If you are new to screen printing, you may not know where to begin, when it comes to print ready artwork. Splitting images in colors, is an important step. Fortunately this Photoshop quite simple. I will show you how in just a few easy steps.

Open your image in Photoshop. Now select the magic wand tool in the Toolbox. Use this tool to select all of a color in the image. To select more than an area hold the SHIFT key down, as you click on the image. See "dancing ants" around the selected areas. When you click the wrong zone, just press CTRL + Z Undo the last movement, or right click and select subtract from selection. Once you have made your selection, snap and select Layer via copy. This creates a new layer with only the one color in it.

If you now see two layers look in the layers panel. Disable hide eye icon next to the level 1 through level. You should be able to see selected the color you on the left. I'm going to change the name of this layer to color, it contains double clicking on the name and the text replaced.

If everything is correct, click again make the area where the eye icon before the layer 1. Follow the steps to select a color and layering via copy again until all the colors are represented in your own levels. Each time, when you select a new color for layering, make sure that layer 1 is active. You can tell because this plane is highlighted in the layers panel in blue. Layer 1 must be active because this is where all the colours originally. If another layer is active, if you try the magic wand tool to select a color, work it right, because the color that you select are not in the active layer is.

Colours, the fine details are a little more complicated than the other layers. It's a good idea to zoom in, if you small areas, make sure that you miss nothing. When I use the magic wand to small font as the TM a logo select is it probably not crispy screen look when printed. Instead of selecting the area with the magic wand, create a new layer and use to write the text tool TM. Writing of TM in black and move the TM to the correct location on the screen. Using a different color than the TM originally was written, is easy to see, if the font size, etc. is.

Now hide all layers in the layers Panel except the TM layer and will be the layer that contains the same color as you like TM printed out. Then right click in layers panel and choose Merge visible. Both layers are now together in one layer.

You need to create, so that the layers are easy to line up registration now when screen printing. Use a thin font such as Arial and write + characters in black in three corners of the image. Use a font size that is easy to see, but not too thick or it will be hard to line up. The registration must far enough away from the image that interfere with printing, but closer to the image. When you print a few logos, you get a feel for how to create and place these brands.

Now select one of the layers. In the file menu, go to image > adjustments > levels. The layers options window pops up. Under output level: There is a black and white bar with two arrows below. Click the white arrow and drag it to the left end of the bar. This will layer black.

Do this with each layer until every layer is black. Now you are ready to print. Layer are each color separately in black with registration marks on each print to print. Print good luck!

Photo resolution

A pixel (short for picture element) is the name of the tiny dots that make up an image and resolution is a measure of how many pixels in an inch fit.
