Color matching with Photoshop - a tutorial

Client of mine customer wanted to see how a few Basketball Shorts with one saw certain Jersey. The only problem was that we are not the Jersey and shorts on the page in the same color. Instead of time and money sending the right color to lose our head office, we have an image with inappropriate colours (the Jersey was Royal Blue, and the short films were scarlet) and the color of the Jersey in Photoshop the shorts appropriately amended. I am going to show you how to replace and correspond to colors in images, so that you can use this awesome tool itself.

Open your image in Photoshop. Save this image and give it a new name, then you open the original image again. You have now two copies of the original image open. First, we will use the copy, not going on any color changes have. We will call this image of the source image. Choose as much as possible about the object, the color that has a selection tool is copied. You can use the magic wand, Lasso or other selection tool. I have the magnetic Lasso to make my selection. I clicked on most of the shorts, so much of the red color as I could. As you can see, it is not necessary to select all the object for which you transmitted the color, but you want to get the full Spectum of the color, so that the new color will be accurate.

Now, go back to the other image. This is the image, which you the color on replaced will be will be. It is the target image. Right-click on the background layer in the layers panel and choose Duplicate layer.
By default, this new layer is called background copy. I'm going to call to replace this layer, color and click OK, complete the step.

We use this duplicate level the original image to get. You use the selection tool of your choice to the entire range you select where the color is to be replaced. Again, I have the magic wand tool.

Now go to the file menu and select image > settings > same color.

The match color settings window opens. In this example, we need not fear that the three sliders in the image options. Make sure that the two boxes are checked under image statistics. Check the top box, it means only the field in the source image selected use color adjustment for that instead of colors from the entire image. The second boxed verifies that only the selected area in the target image will be affected. In addition to source: You choose the source image. You will be in the position, a small image of source next the name of the source image you will find below. Then click OK.

In my example, the shirt is now red instead of blue, but there is still some work to do. We will contrast of the new red shirts. Make sure that this level in the layers panel is still selected. Click in the layers panel to create new fill or adjustment layer, and select levels.

A histogram is displayed.

There are three arrows at the bottom of the histogram. A black one on the left side that controls the shaded areas. It is a grey arrow in the Middle, and then a white one on the right side that controls the hightlights. I'm going to slide of the black and White arrows to inside to the contrast in the Red looks what I should be there. If your picture looks faded, this is how you fix it. Now I will choose luminosity in the layers panel so that the overall colour of this new layer, only the brightness of the color is not affected.

There you have it. We have a perfect example image to send to our customers. Is it much easier for our customers to decide whether you want, such as the Jersey and shorts together now look. With a blue top and Red soils were you almost certainly don't like the game. It came comes in handy, so that the customers, we present a suitable uniform.

So you understand how much when it comes to know about the color of your printer, camera and monitor, because you all need to handle color in the same way.

The theory of color spaces is very complex and scary, but you need to know the basics for getting the most out of your images. A color space is the range of colors that a device or application can reproduce, and most people is furnished standard Photoshop to use wrong are not aware of this. First things must you first make sure, that it is in the right or proper color space. Need your camera and make sure to check it and Adobe RGB or sRGB settings anywhere in your menus. If your luck and there is, then set it to Adobe RGB. You need not to worry, unless there is a way round this.

You must be shot in RAW, then you need not worry about the camera settings, you will find out, what ever comes from the CCD sensor colorspace neutral is, if you use Adobe camera raw you will also notice that it is associated with a color space. Open ACR go to and within the space menu, select Adobe RGB. You must also verify and presets you have saved could open and verify that they all use this setting.

Okay, must now call the color settings in Photoshop, go to edit / Photoshop > color settings and select the North America prepress 2 setting in the preferences menu, next step under colour management policies set to convert your RGB to RGB at this point, you must ensure you also, to work the bottom box have checked, this will bring top and very useful warning if or when you open an old sRGB picture or a file. No need to panic if it's your elements a setting in there. Choose "always for printing optimize" searching in the colour dialog settings are possible.

Last step must go to print preview (or print) and this is, where are your printer options right menu. Notice there should be an Adobe RGB settings, must use that. Unless you have to experiment to see which settings gives you the most accurate results. For best results, that you have to experiment also with color, handling and rendering intent, if you have, then it just a case of pressing the print test thumbnails with different settings to evaluate the colors.

Because the original layer often (identified by the lock on the layer) is locked, you won't be able to change this layer. Modify a layer name, if you double click on the layer in the layers panel name from.

Select the top layer in the layers panel.

A higher percentage of opacity will show more of the true color allow. In this example I used 100% opacity.

Delete where you want to show the original color. Notice that since the black and white layer is selected, only the black-and-white allow image clears the color shine through.

Fix color in an image – Photoshop tutorial

Many of the problems I have seen photos, that the color of the skin to off a little too seems to be. In the photos I see red wines through the skin color ranges of the person seem to be taking, is photographed. In this tutorial you will learn how to skin colour back to normal to get, without affecting the entire image.

To begin with, you will need some basic knowledge of Photoshop, to achieve this update. The only things we will work to correct the color in an image are the new adjustment layers and layer masks. This is all that is necessary to do this simple but effective fix.

The first thing you need to do is to select an image that you want to use, fix on the skin tone, and open in Photoshop. I would like to warn you, that this not entirely photos that fix the color of skin off is really bad. You want to use the fix that have a light to moderate problem for photos.

The next step is to make a new hue/saturation adjustment layer atop the original image. You can do this by the icon below have the levels that looks like a half in the district, click hue/saturation and. This brings the "hue/saturation window and make it to his own new level.

Next with the hue/saturation window is still open to determine, what color override your skin color is. As I said before, seems I have the problem with the red wines, so I going to choose the reds'm to my picture. You can change the color of you need to correct the color in your image. You can change the color by using the drop-down menu in the hue/saturation.

Next take Saturation slider and move it to the left until the skin color looks pretty good or the best what you can get it without looking fake. Don't right worry you about the other parts of the image now. Focus only on the color of the skin. We will fix the background colors next.

Once you are satisfied with your skin color, click OK to close the "hue/saturation window and see your new layer above the original image. If you notice however the customization you influenced made the entire image. So to get back to normal restored, click the layer mask part of the new layer and grab your brush tool. Make sure your foreground color to black is set and have a large enough brush so that you are again a long time not background brushes.

Now, with black, brush in the parts of the image back to normal restore you want to. I brush in the whole picture except skin areas I wanted to fix. This gives the most realistic look. You are now finished with the Photoshop tutorial how skin color in an image to resolve.
