Line. There are a lot of you, and each has its own design function. Straight, curve, thick, thin, broken lines to do independent or if other items fitted to organize text and graphics. It creates a Visual path that help your audience through design to follow. Lines give a sense of motion design. It guides the eyes of the spectator.

Shape. Psychologists were always fascinated with Forms. Remember: Rorschach inkblot test. Can use the same principle in your design. Know the audience learn, how do your thoughts on a visual appeal your own easy to manipulate. Form, more than any element symbolizes ideas.

Mass. The confusing part of Photoshop tutorials is, if the author start gossiping about the importance of the mass. Those who don't know anything about graphic design questions: "What in the world is visual weight?" Simply put, it's graphic and text elements create contrast to take a spectator's interest.

Texture. Another confusing thing about Photoshop tutorials is texture. The same question is often hang left. These are easy to understand if you already know your "relief" from your "shadow". Visual texture create contrast and interest. Dimension and personality added to the design. You provoked emotions and play on the spectator's eyes. If you hear someone say that a certain artwork seems alive, crafted texture manipulation is most likely.

Color. This is probably the easiest item control in graphic design, but is still often overlooked. Dealing with color is as simple as a color wheel and what color combination picking together works.
