Photoshop tutorials for beginners: 4 steps better photos

Step # 1 - outline to the subject
The central idea of photography is to capture a particular thing. There can be several things - a person, a building, a physical object, a situation. The key is, it image so that it is obviously only what the topic. Each image must be a principal object, idea, in the Centre of attention and it is what should capture really attention of people, if they check the snapshot...So, if you shoot one key part of your photography make this person. If you are getting rid of the pictures of famous buildings try and people on the front of the frame. If you the women include vending machines rose on the road, try not to get people in the photo area. Make it easy for viewers to know what it actually is, you have tried to capture.

Look at step # 2-two or three different angles
Often change just a phase can a huge improvement produce. It is of course situations probably if you do not manage it, many corners (for example if you only enter a people on the way and there are still some moments) to test, but if you take photos a fixed thing some time several different options to consider. Not all images should be taken while standing upright. Try to get the wall or perhaps simple photography from the side instead of the front view. Navigate around your subject a little and discover a few exciting angle without a doubt. It really needs much time, but can make your pictures much more unique. No one will take a look at your images for a long time, if they are all similar.

Step 3 - employ the principle of the third
Third rule is perhaps the best known principle of photography. It is also one that comply with the most convenient is and one that can enrich your images easily immediately. Imagine, that you just picture - side to side and up and down - in total, and as a result have share 9 equivalent parts. The idea is, fit your images regarding the subject matter (or something that you want to highlight that in the image) so that it is one of these fictitious lines or at the point where they cross. This will help, sense of balance to increase your image. If the concept of the third looks complicated, not affected--it's really not

Step # 4 - run some photoshoping
Photoshop is a contemporary darkroom and not, that employs it means state approval people was. It could be was if you use it, your photos (as set or remove items) to transform, Photoshop used properly but can be magic. The first thing to recognize is that this photographic camera images require that some aid for far better replicate the primary image the scenes that eye can the way person, which can be seen. You must be a Photoshop guru and spend much time change your images. All you need is not about once a minute for each image (edit only those that are the best) and the ability to use, a series of common methods. Find many methods available in Photoshop, that can improve a photo and the most reasonable, what can you do these applications, a good guide and master select 1 from 1.

Should I how much sharpening Photoshop for beginners - a photo for printing?

What is Unsharp masking USM?

The most commonly used method of the sharpness of an image in Photoshop is to use the USM or unsharp mask filter. The Unsharp Mask filter has its roots in the traditional darkroom printing and involves increasing the contrast at the edges of the detail. On the other hand, this increase produced a perceived increase in sharpness.

How much USM should I use?

The amount of USM used to a specific image depends on several factors: as is the original image file, as is the pressure to be how good is your printer, you with glossy paper rough occurred.

There is not a set amount of USM, which are right for all photos. For example, an image with mostly smooth sounds and very little detail can raise required more as a very detailed photo where too much sharpen can ruin the image.

Sharpening for print

Sharpening for the pressure is really, where we need to know what's going on. The only sure way to know how much USM to use is to make a T-shirt! I know this sounds wonky, but the point is, must see the limits of your printing process can only do this and learn prints. I suggest you think about the typical resolution, on which you print and a few tests to do. For example, if you regularly make prints at 300 dpi then you choose compatible thumbnail with this size. This is the de-facto standard for print, but is not always required. For inkjet, you can may be as low as 200 dpi and still excellent results. This depends on the details in the image; Photos with less detail and smooth tones is lower print resolutions need as the higher resolution printing images with fine details. That is why digital paintings often a lower resolution than very detailed photos can be printed.

The problem is, we see the image on the screen at 96ppi and this has us say how it will look when printed at a higher resolution. You will find an impressive image to a decent size (say A3 @ 300 dpi or a file size of 20-50 MB) and cut a small area and paste it into a new file. Use you to experiment with different USM this then and make small prints. You can save time by several versions of this detail section at different levels in an A3 300 dpi empty image and various USM at each level as a lot of pressure to make. This will show you, how far can you push the USM (or how little you can get away with) and to get a great result. You have found the ceiling, compare the print to screen of image and make a mental note how sees "crunchy" in the screen image. This will be a good visual reference for the future.

Now you do sounds and less features, like the one same painted with a section of an image with smoother, and compare the printed results. You can find, that more USM take the less detailed image than the detailed, or vice versa.

If you receive your prints done to a photo lab/shop, ask the machine for optimal results have which DPI and assign your tests accordingly. They then get print your test images for you.

This all should learn these simple unique tests, thinking about how much do you know about USM without or must use little. This is also your system calibration!

Should I how much sharpening Photoshop for beginners - a photo for the Internet?

What is Unsharp masking USM?

The most commonly used method of the sharpness of an image in Photoshop is to use the USM or unsharp mask filter. The Unsharp Mask filter has its roots in the traditional darkroom printing and involves increasing the contrast at the edges of the detail. On the other hand, this increase produced a perceived increase in sharpness.

How much USM should I use?

Before taking too much we just set up that it group no "one-stop" settings for all occasions. Many beginners think you can only an amount of USM for all images, but this is not usually possible. The amount of sharpening must be done on the basis of image.

Of course, if you regularly create images of the same basic size, for example for your Internet Gallery, you can find that a lot of focus works in most cases; for the size of the image! To determine the amount of USM required, it is best to consider how we want to use the image.

In the Internet

We change size for the Internet, where you show your picture on the screen, typically the image so that it produces a reasonable size on the computer monitor. For the screen display the 'resolution' of the image in the Photoshop image size dialog displayed is irrelevant (this is used only for the pressure); the only important information is the actual pixel dimension of the image. Now the most monitors are at a screen resolution of 96ppi (pixels per inch) and the most common are screens pixels 1024 x 768 or higher. So if you thumbnail half screen should make 768 screen 1024 x on one must be 612 pixels to the width. This would be a picture of something more than six inches wide on the screen to produce.

So, we our finished image size (and save you a copy!) to 612 pixels wide. Now we apply the USM. By viewing this image only on a computer screen, you can simply use your eyes to determine how much to raise is intended. Match the settings of USM visually verified with preview box. If you return halons to edges, you have gone too far!

This is easy, as you can see the result immediately, use only your judgment. If greater than 1024 x 768 the numbers adjust your screen size for your screen, because you absolutely no control over other people's screens have. Just keep thinking about how big you want the image appear ON SCREEN and pixel sizes (or 96ppi calculate screen inch) use to get there. All of this is dialogue for you in PS with the image size, so you need not the mathematics.

If you submit your photos to online libraries or for use on printed products you follow the guidelines of the particular site you sent to the images. Most commercial Web sites have very detailed help guide you.

As a result, you all should learn some simple tests, thinking about how much do you know about USM for Internet photos without or must use little. By the way, this is to know your Visual settings for your Internet-based photos!

Photoshop for beginners - the 6 foundations of channels

The 6 basic things you need to know are:

(1) Channels are simply special layers, the information store

A channel is simply a level which is on the stored information about the image. They are called channels to confusion with normal levels. To start with any RGB color image has three channels: one for the red color information, for the Green information and one for the blue color information. If the image in a different color format is it can more or less channels. For example, four channels using the lab mode.

(2) Each channel is a grayscale image

Channels only save grayscale images. This means that a channel is the same as an 8-bit black white photo. The channel can store all the values from 0 (black) to 255 (white), but no color. Therefore, a colour image has three channels, one for the three primary colors of the image.

(3) Channels are a place to store selection

If you select a part of the image with one of the selection tools in Photoshop you can save (select menu in the menu) this selection in a channel selection... so it can be used again in the future. This is especially important if you have created a complex selection can have taken quite some time. The channel in which the selection is stored, is often referred to as an alpha channel. You can convert an alpha channel back to a normal selection with the load selection... Select command on the menu or by using CTRL + click (Cmd + click on Macs) on the channel icon in the channels palette.

4. Can you want as many channels as you

You can as many choices as you like and each store to its ' own alpha channel in the channels palette. To see the superimposed a saved selection as a red mask to your image, click on the channel visibility box next to the channel in the channels palette you can also see the red mask displayed a saved selection as a grayscale image by clicking on the field of visibility of the required channel and then hide the RGB channel, by you to remove box to the eye icon on the RGB channel visibility. The eye icon appears in the field when the contents of a channel are visible.

5. You can handle a channel as a grayscale photograph.

Because a stored selection in a channel is a grayscale image you can almost everything, what with this picture do you, with a normal black / white photography can do. You can change gray the stored information by painting with a brush on the image is black, white with the color or each sound. If you paint with a tone of grey you made when you load the saved selection to use transparency.

6. You can apply filters to channels.

If you want to create unique or unusual selection, you can apply a filter to a channel that work with 8-bit gray level images. Blur that is used a lot, to the edges to blur the saved selection include Gaussian. This would be similar with the feather option, if you use the selection tools.

These 6 fundamental concepts will give you a head start in understanding the role of channels and what you used in your Photoshop image editing for are.

Photoshop for beginners - what do the USM settings mean?

What is USM?

USM stands for unsharp mask (or masking), and it is a technique used to sharpen a digital image by increasing contrast along the edges of the detail in the image. An increase in local contrast provides an image sharper to our eyes appear. USM has its roots in traditional darkroom work, as the only way, a slightly soft negative image sharpening was to make an out-of-focus copy of the original negative. This copy was made with the original negative and the pressure in the sandwich. It was found that this produce the apparent contrast of the image a better pressure. The negative copy as an "Unsharp mask" became known, and this is, where is the digital equivalent of it's rather strange name.

The USM dialog box settings

USM must use you a bit about the settings in the Photoshop USM to understand dialog box so here goes...

The amount value is the percentage of the increase in contrast applied to the pixels on each side of the edge (that is, each line or detail) found. For example, you have to where there are pixel values of one side of the border of, say, 30% and on the other page pixel of 50% (not too much contrast in this example) with an edge of the image, a lot of 100% (or whatever) these pixels by this amount increased the difference on the other hand. 50 Minus 30 20% difference is. Boost difference and so that will be 40% final pixel values 20% and 60%.

The amount value, you use depends on how much data that have the file size in MB, that you to play with. For the same amount value small images of the dreaded can 'halons white' to view details, have a problem during a large image with the same amount. Small images use your eyes to determine the image because that is where rule as small images appear and print in larger images, you want a destination for a "crunchy" look (not very technical, but you will know it), if you see it!). Note are you that printers with higher resolutions than screens work, so that obvious roughness in the sharpened picture smoothing is ' in print, and not on the you are hand.

The RADIUS value is how many pixels are adjusted by a found line. A radius of 1 is used only one row of pixels of each page of found edge. This creates a subtle sharpen and suitable for very detailed images, where the last, what is you lose subtle details. Higher values produce much more aggressive effects. Again, you can be your eyes of the judges.

The threshold is the minimum pixel value that is used in the sharpness. With a threshold of 3, all pixels with a value of 3 or less will be ignored. This allows to control the subtle details in shadows. Generally, higher threshold values reduce the impression, sharpen, because the focus is applied to fewer pixel values.

Although it is not the answer which settings are best, you need to know the above apply to your selected image. Pictures with many details, in particular in dark areas, to produce an increase in sharpness without too much loss of detail less RADIUS but more threshold. Images with much smoother tonal areas, such as blue sky may be higher amount values and low threshold with RADIUS is up or down. However, the disadvantage is that you can create a "grainy" impression in the sounds and possibly a little Posterize. Use again, your own eyes to judge!

There you have it; You now know what is USM and how the settings affect results focus. Until the next time...

Photoshop for beginners - the 3 basics of using the curves

Avoid the most beginners Photoshop (and many advanced users), with the curves command, because it reminds you of school math classes and geometry! I know how you feel, but if you take to understand a bit of time, the basics of how to use curves lose your fear - trust me. In this article I will show you the 3 basics you need to understand to effectively use curves.

What do actually curves?

The curves are very like the levels in which you are used to the tonal contrast of photography. Above all, you are also used to customize the look of the various grey tones in an image. The difference between curves and levels is that "Curves" dialog box you can control a part of the grey tones, while all of the different sounds at the same time changing the levels; You have less control with levels as you with curves. This is why professionals prefer, with curves; Set in the control.

Use the command curves to the overall contrast of change:

(1) Choose the first note in the image you want to have a pure black value.

Known as black point setting, can move the black slider at the bottom of the grid in the curves dialog set that will be sound pure black on the photo. Thinking remember that if you move the slider of the start of the chart shape you some past who are to lose subtle really dark shades and go this information lost. For example, if you move the slider to the right, so it is very left end of the chart (displays the value the sound at this point the input box), is to change this value to pure black (value 0) and all other grey tones are proportionally darken. If you still move the slider further to the right i.e. make a slightly higher tone value pure black, they all tones are shown losing in the graphic, are on the left side of the slider. Say we, at the end of an input value of 20, the chart shows this is the darkest tone of the image and when will it be pure black we don't lose all other sound values because the other notes have higher values (they are brighter tone). However, if we move you further say input the slider in the chart value 30, lose all of the sounds between 20 and 30 because you all be made pure black are we.

Now we know to rich looking shadow set as the darkest sound of the picture to pure black.

(2) If the pure white tone of the image.

Now we use white point adjustment to the lightest tones of the image set. Move the white slider to the left, so that only the right side of the chart will affect the sound in this position are pure white make. As with the black point adjustment, the above described there all other sounds in this section are low value (i.e..) (You are dark all), then we lose none of the subtle light tones. However, if we further move the white slider to the left, so you lose all sounds on the right side of the slider in the form of the diagram, we be made pure white in the image as you.

Set the endpoints in the dialog box of curves, as described above is exactly the same as you layer in the dialogue. For the endpoints to the two commands do exactly the same work. The real power of curves is how we can control the other tones of the image, as we will see now.

(3) The intermediate tones of the image control.

Remember the first difference between levels and curves is that there is no gray slider is displayed in the curves dialog and that there is a diagonal line from one corner to the other, display of the histogram behind this line. (To understand, see my article on understanding the histogram more of the chart in the "Curves" dialog box.) This line is actually a curve without any curves in it! If the line is directly (as it will be, if you only the endpoints in 1 and 2 above), the relationship between the intermediate tones is affected both by the line. However, you can now click and drag to create everywhere in this line to a curved line. If the line of a curve shape is controlling the tones no longer equally. The real power of the correction settings is that you must click and drag several points on the line after any form that can create curve. By changing the shape of the line to a curve you can control which be adjusted parts of the tone scale. You can also simply click, create on the route to fixed points to stop that as an anchor, the line of curvature. If the line is just no changes are to the tones in this area. This is how you; select only a portion of sound change, To preserve, create multiple anchor points along the line of the tones and then turn the row up or down within the area you want to change.

A word of caution; You caused the curved part of the row that covers the shadows of the chart that the curve of the lighter you sounds higher the notes, to undo. This is known as Posterization and is not good! Try to ensure that the curve is increased all the way from left to right and that it not diving you down too much in the middle section.

There, you have the 3 basics of using the curves command. Curves is the most powerful way to control the contrast of your photo and you should now be able to use it with confidence.

Photoshop for beginners - understanding levels and curves input values

If "Tone value correction" dialog box, you set the value of the input or "Curves" either by the black or white triangular slider drag or enter a value directly in the input box, you are to say Photoshop, all the pixels in the image change, the new sound value, so that the same as the standard output value. For example, if you move the white slider in the dialog box "Curves" to 250, you say basically "I want all pixels with a value of 250 and higher (i.e. 250 to 255 range), have the same value as displayed in the field output."

As is the standard output value 255 for white, all the pixels in the image with a value of 250 or higher take place, be pure white (value 255). The other light tones in the image will be easier. The same goes for the black slider. If you move the black slider, you set the INPUT value all pixels with this and lower value equal to the standard output value changes is (i.e. black) of 0. For example, if you move the black slider or you set the input black value to 25, are all pixels with a value of 25 or lower on the output value from 0 (black) provided. This is also all the shadow tones to the darkening of lead.

Actually, you are the upper and lower limits of the white and black tones in the image which in this example would increase the overall contrast of the image. So, if you have a low contrast image that still didn't get a black clay and has not got a white tone, you would normally speak his "OK, the darkest tone in this picture has, say a value of 20, but this is not true black and I want it to be black." "Right, so that I must have the INPUT value, set the black slider to 20 and leave the output value with 0."

This changes the value of the selected audio from 20 to 0, which is the depth of the shadow tones. Note that all sounds in the dark areas are proportionally be reduced in value. You have one now either levels or curves sound setting 'has assigned the value of 20 to 0'. Working with the lighter tones now, we say the lightest tone in this same image has a value of 230 (a light gray photos sound, typical for low contrast). Now let's assume, we want the image to a pure white have. So, we need to change the value of this tone of 230 so that it looks white (value 255). Use the levels or curves adjustment dialog we move the white slider until the INPUT value 230 is and let the output value to the default value of 255. This will change all sounds with a value of 230, so that you the new value of 0 (zero) have that white in the image change is.

The result of these two changes to the black and white input values are that the image contrast have increased you, thus it fill the full tonal range and more ' normal' displayed. Now you understand levels as the input values in the dialogs and curves work and correct as you use it, take a picture with low contrast.

Photoshop for beginners - 6 most important first steps

Most people want to do special effects with Photoshop, but like all tools, the location of the work, it is the essential basics under your belt to get first. Here is my recommended list of the 6 basic essentials, which should learn Photoshop beginners:

(1) Learn the image analysis tools - the histogram, the eyedropper tool and the Info palette

Important information about your image or photo offer these three tools. The histogram will tell you everything, what you about the exposure of the photography, to know whether it under or be exposed to, and the tonal range. The eyedropper tool gives you valuable information about the colors in the image; in particular, where there is a color cast (a colour cast is a unwanted overall dominant color) you must correct. The Info palette (or window) will provide numerical feedback, when to use the eyedropper tool and also when using other tools. This is an important reference for advanced work value, to know at the beginning.

(2) You will learn how to use just a height-adjustable image - the ruler to find the angle of the slope.

Learn to use with the ruler tool you can exactly the angles which determine a tilted horizon, and this can then be used to quickly correct with the Rotate Canvas command a height-adjustable image. Requires no guesses! With so many people with cameras with only map screens on the back instead of a proper viewfinder, it has all too often come for pictures in your camera with a heavy tend to you. Use learning, the ruler and turn screen combination makes these pictures really easy to fix!

3. Get to the image crop – use the clipping tool

Crop is the process of removing everything from on the edges of photos, that are added to the impact of the photo. The clipping tool should be considered next crop is a very important creative process. There are very few photos that can benefit from them are not truncated. Too many Photoshop beginners accept only the content of photos from the camera without thinking as he, whether the image can be improved visually, by removing unnecessary edges. The additional advantage of the cropping of the image is early that you as the file size which further changes very quickly run reduce much on the image, with less memory and disk space.

4. Learn you remove dust and stains - how to use the spot Healing Brush and Clone Stamp tools

With modern sensor cleaning built-in, you can find that contains your image of dust marks or other marks. These are often in areas which to see smooth sound such as such as a clear sky. These should be removed with the spot Healing Brush tool particularly smooth color and sounds like heaven and the Clone Stamp tool. The Clone Stamp tool is essential for removing or correcting areas of details that the spot Healing Brush can often only messes up. Get a handle on these two important tools quickly, so that you can really clean up your important pictures.

(5) Learn, adjust the tonal values - use levels

The next logical step is to fix exposure problems or tonal range problems. If the image is too light or dark, now is the time to correct. To do tonal corrections, you have to learn to use the levels command. The level command a histogram, used to show the notes so that your previous learn from step 1 above you now really will help. I told you it was a logical learning sequence!

(6) Learn, remove color casts - use the white balance command

Although interpret a decent work, the color of the light reaching the sensor modern cameras, you get it also often incorrectly the color dominant results in a photo with an obvious. This is known as a colour cast and the white balance command removes must. Once a dominant color has been corrected, you're ready to make more creative color improvements, if desired.

You have to learn the six most important things for beginners Photoshop. Each of these steps can be mastered quickly and findings provide a solid foundation for all your future Photoshop work; whether you want to improve a family snap or an advanced special effects work to produce.

Photoshop for beginners - the 3 essential command levels

Many beginners Photoshop learn, use the command levels, but never really understand exactly how it works. In this article I will explain the three main aspects that you need to understand to effectively use the levels command.

What makes the layer command?

Level command is used to adjust the overall contrast of the image. It is also used to customize the distribution of the intermediate tones in the image area.

The layer command is used to the overall contrast of change:

(1) Set the first note in the image to be pure black.

This is called the black level. Let's say you have some dark tones in the photo with the pixel values of 20, 15, 10 and 5 (5 is the darkest since black is null). You set the black point slider (move it to the right) in the layer dialog box input value of 10, then the dark clay with a pixel value of 10 will be changed so that it has a value of 0 (zero), and is pure black. But, all pixels with a value of less than 10 also pure black are made. In our example, the sound with pixel value 5 will also pure black. In this case, you will lose actually valuable shadow detail. Of course, the other dark shades in the value reduced proportionately.

(2) Set the first note in the image should be pure white.

This is called the white point. Much like in the example above but using the lightest tones that you have with light tones of 240, 245, 250 pixel values (white has a pixel value of 255), and you move the Weißpunktschieberegler links in the dialog, so it has an input value of 245; This pixel value will be changed to 255 and are pure white. Sounds with pixel values between 245 and 255, which means our pixels by 250, are also as pure white.

The layer command is used to moderate contrast of change:

3. Setting of medium grey tone point.

The gray slider below the graph displayed histogram see my article on understanding the histogram in the layer dialog box that controls the distribution of the nuances. This is known as the grey point or gamma of the image. If you move this slider let Photoshop, change the values of all of the tones between black and white (but not the actual black or white tones). Whichever sound you align, the slider below are changed, become a middle gray value of 128. So, if you move the slider to the left under the histogram, you will brighten all the tones between black and white. Conversely, if you move the slider to the right, you will obscure all the sounds.

By adjusting the black and white endpoints, we change the overall contrast in the image. This is soft most in contrast, for photographs, low lighting, such as on a cloudy day is found used. Care should be taken are not too many of the darkest and will lose to lose lightest tones, such as the subtle details. By adjusting the gray point, we change the values of the gray tones; either lighter or darker.

You have the three essential fundamentals by using the command levels in Photoshop. The levels, the command the simplest tools is the tone control use and with the understanding you have now, you can use it much more safely.

Photoshop for beginners - understanding levels and curves output values

In another article, I explained how the INPUT values, which uses the dialogs Photoshop layers and curves. In this article I discuss the output values except to say that are the default values of 255 for the white slider and 0 for the black slider.

The output values can be used, darken lighten up dark tones to bright colors. This can be used to reduce the overall contrast of a photo. When you drag the black endpoint on the left side of the diagram upwards, you will be in the curves dialog the value of the black output for the default value of 0 (zero) increase. Conversely, if you drag the white end point on the right side of the chart down, you can reduce the value of the white output to less than the default of 255. This has the effect of reducing the contrast of photography that you edit. This is similar to, but to the using the input values.

However, the output values have a more important function - you help you calibrate your printer! If we print thumbnail the images are interpreted by the printer, and this can all too common problem to which the pressure not matching the image result. The problem is that the printer has an own ' contrast range' and this may be, and often is, less than the contrast of the screen of image.

This means, that the printer well some which are more subtle tones of the image, that is, shadow values 5, 6, 7 to say 15 as black and print the lightest tones of 250 251 up to 254 as solid white. The result would be a pressure, which had more contrast and less detail than the image.

The solution is, some test to make prints with a gray scale of sounds (i.e., a number of patches of different sound values) from black to white. The tonal values of each patch should be in the value of say 3 or 5 in both the brightest and darkest parts change. The middle tones can such as units of 10, since you are not so important with larger differences in values that change this calibration. You print on this scale your printer with your usual papers. You should test each paper that you use as the paper of the visible dynamic range effect.

Now, compare the pressure on the screen and find the sound value patch on the printed scale, which is completely black and that is entirely in white. For example, you need dark tones in the grayscale screen 0 (black) say image, 5, 10, 15, 20 and bright sounds say 250, 252, 254 and 255 (white).

If the view of the test is print, if there is no visible difference between the dark it spots the scale with values of 5, 10 and (i.e., the notes of 5 and 10 are pure black in print) shows this black your printer on a dark tone which interpret value 10 and less than pure black.

Which will look at lightest tones, vice versa, if the notes with values 252 and show white paper, your printer shows this to something about 252 as pure white as printed. Well, now we the borders the contrast can know the printers can produce. In this example, every note is printed darker than 10 as pure black and white prints each sound lighter than 252 as pure.

Now we can use the output values of the dialog window curves, to compensate for this printer/paper contrast. With our example, we now know that every note with a value of 10 or lower are black in print. In other words, is the BLACK POINT of the printer 10. Yes, to compensate for the output value, we need the the black slider in the curves dialog box set to the value 10. This is the shadow in the image lighten (and probably make it boring look), but when you print the image of the printer will lower the values below back where you you.

The same happens for the lighter tones. The printer will produce any value of 252, such as paper white (no ink), so we need to output value, which the white slider in the dialog curves 252 set. This reduces the values of the light tones in the image, but the printer will lift you back up to the expression! You are now enough the levels and curves output values for you the image contrast options to customize the printer and paper. The Visual result on the screen does not matter!

Photoshop for beginners - professional Photoshop workflow secrets

Step # 1 - rotate and straighten the image

It takes up time and patience and a tripod, create perfectly level image in the camera and because the majority of people hand-their cameras the majority of the photographs hold have tilted horizons or buildings. Therefore, the first step of my professional Photoshop workflow is to straighten the image.

Step # 2 - crop for composition and efficiency

Once the image has straightened the next step to Cropthe is image to the desired shape. This has two positive aspects: it allows everything about the most important issue, cut off, which do not add the impact of the photo, and it reduces the file size the Photoshop faster work makes.

Step 3 - Bunny remove brands and dust '

Now we get rid of all irritating dust marks (known as dust bunnies), particularly evident in blue skies, and remove all the unwanted details in the image such as litter on the ground. We do this with a combination of the healing brush and Clone Stamp Tools.

Step # 4 – save the original image

At this point, we have a clean image, and it is a very good idea, that now save as picture to save... and the clean image to give a meaningful name. This will keep the original photo intact and give your clean image with a useful file names.

Step # 5 - Basic and intermediate level tone control/adjustment

Now you have a clean image it's time, the total tonal values to determine whether the image tonal corrections needs. This is where we fix you exposure problems and also lighting contrast issues.

Step # 6 - Basic and intermediate level color control/adjustment

At this point we can see if the image of unwanted dominant color and remove the color-correction tools. Because the most used camera user of the automatic white balance, it is likely that this photo be converted a color, are removed. At this point, save the image again!

Step # 7 - Advanced tone and color control/adjustment

In step 6 # we removed a dominant colour cast, and now we must use the advanced Photoshop color tools to optimize the color balance of the image. This is for example, where we would make sure the skin color a portrait was perfect.

Step # 7 - selective adjustment method with layer masks

Now we get more creative and start the image to determine which areas within the benefit photo from more adjustments to the sounds and colors to analyze. Make local corrections, we use selection and layer masks. A very useful technique is the use of density masks for ultimate control. At this point, our correction is completed, and we can save the image ready for further use.

Step # 8 – sharpen for different purposes

Now our finished image we must we apply, sharpen, send either for the production of a print or for the image to a Web page. Sharpness of an image often caused concern and all "secret" seems built around the topic have. Follow these rules to keep things: A) for the Web, resize the image first and to sharpen. If it looks good on the screen, it should be fine (watch out for halons that too much sharpen specify). (B) for which is producing a print, which you can apply the sharpen more as your monitor, because the printer uses much higher resolution. Make the image a little "crisp" see on the screen, and it should be fine in print.

Step # 9 - save the work for various purposes

This is something that many people don't think that. You have always a master copy of the original untouched image (in the event that you always restart want), and copy you a master of the image fully corrected with a unique name. Now the fully corrected version to do resize, and sharpen for a particular purpose, as for example for a Web Gallery, and then save the image in a new file. This is very important; You have separate files for each type of use the image for example Web Gallery, inkjet printing, e-Mail, thumbnail to have, blog, etc..

There you have it! The secrets of a professional workflow, you can use to make up your image processing and save time in the process. This will make you much more efficient! Until next time.

Should Photoshop use levels or curves for beginners - I?

You learn many Photoshop users who know layer dialog box and then never progress to learn how to use the curves. In this article of Photoshop I give several reasons why you learn, use the curves you will make more an expert with Adobe Photoshop.

What is the difference between levels and curves?

Edit in digital photography, used both the levels and curves of the single most important editing tasks: image-sound control. If you have a photo with less than perfect contrast, i.e., the contrast is either too low or vice versa to high must use some form of sound control. The black and white endpoints which change the tonal range of the image, you can both the levels and curves. You can customize the endpoints the global or a total contrast to change a photo; the method and affect is which of the two commands you want to use the same, depending.

Both commands, you can modify the appearance of intermediate or gray, sounds in between the black and white endpoints. The main difference between the two commands, however, is that a levels adjustment changes proportionally all the sounds in the tonal range; during the curves, you can select which part of the tone scale that you want to customize. A linear adjustment is the levels but the curves are a geometric adjustment (in fact, this difference in the field of the name is and linear curves and geometric). This is a massive difference and with curves rather than levels editing will increase ability on a professional level.

Is the big question, which you should use?

This is quite straightforward if you take into account the following points.

Use levels, if:

Only the endpoints you want to black or white, to global contrast, you lighten or darken want to adjust the entire tonal range. This is normal exposure adjust errors. To you the visual relationship of the values for the nuances to maintain.

Use curves, if:

You want to subtly adjust the visual relationship of sound values. For example facilitate you the lights and you to dark shadow from. This requires usually one ' s ' shaped curve adjustment. Want to customize only the bright tones or only the dark shades. You want the notes in only a small part of which adjust the entire tonal range. You want full control of your tonal editing.

Although a little more practice levels learn the curves is to use, and the fact that everything, from a distance looks like mathematics and geometry half to death shocked many people, you are not really hard to master. If you play with the curves dialog for 10-15 minutes you feel much more comfortable with the process. And don't forget that if you use the curves layer as an adjustment to modify always the impact without damaging your original photography.

Now you can learn all the skills, edit for your photo to Zone2Tone and get a free professional-quality video tutorial needs.

Photoshop tutorials for beginners – as the number of pixels display and impact printing digital images

You edit a photo on your computer, and if you went to print, it was only a small image on the page? Ever sent a digital photo, your mother, but the image file size was so great that rejected your Inbox of your plant?

Photo resolution

A pixel (short for picture element) is the name of the tiny dots that make up an image and resolution is a measure of how many pixels in an inch fit.

Our televisions, computer monitors and even digital photographs are full of Pixeln--thousands and thousands of them all so tight that it tricks the human brain to think these tiny dots are crammed together a smooth image.

The higher the number of pixels in an image looks smoother the curve of the image. Conversely when the number of pixels that is too low, the image quality suffers. If the number of pixels so low is can the jaggy edges, you have a picture pixelated.

Digital camera images have a high number of pixels, while most computer displays a small number of pixels, typically less than 100 pixels to inches at home. View the former to the latter results in an image that appears much larger than the computer screen. Digital cameras capture high-resolution images to enable photographic prints. But email on this large image file is megabytes of data and many e-mail clients will reject it.

Image resampling

The solution is to talk about re-sample that resolution change the picture that is computer. Reduce the number of pixels that make the image appear normal on a computer screen. And allows MOM photos from your last vacation via e-Mail with the latest family. But after resampling, expect the image not a quality print no longer get because you took as many pixels.

The general directive seems easy now. Images for printing needs at a high resolution to be while on a computer screen displayed images certainly need only a low resolution.

If you want to do both, you create a copy of your original digital image for fiddling with. In addition to allowing both print and display images correctly, is also one featured backup plan for all your digital photos.

Well, you know how affects pixel count digital photos, enjoy great success in print and display each image that you can access with your digital camera.
