Photoshop tutorial - color accents method 2

A great technique is to use Photoshop to accentuate colour. Add focus to your images by black and white and then the true color, select a photo to elements to shine through. You can accent your child in a photograph by everything, but you the black and white or bring the bright colors of a flower. Bright colors work best. I use Adobe Photoshop CS3, to do this tutorial, but you should be able, the same instructions for all versions of Photoshop.

Open your photo in Photoshop and use the crop tool if needed.

Right in the layers Panel click on the background layer and choose Duplicate layer. Follow this step twice so you have two new levels in addition to the original background layer. Because the original layer often (identified by the lock on the layer) is locked, you won't be able to change this layer. If your "Layers" Panel is not visible call window in the menu bar and select levels. By default, this new level background and background copy 2 will be called. Modify a layer name, if you double click on the layer in the layers panel name from.

Select the top layer in the layers panel.

Layer appears in blue. In the menu bar, select image > adjustments > black and white.

A window will pop up, you can set the black and white layer will look like. In this example I left the default settings, but you may prefer messing around with preset options to make available or customize the color bar, your picture as you.

Next turn the visibility of the black and white layer to by clicking on the eye, layer in the layers panel. The color plane by click this layer in the layers panel. The layer is blue panel shows that it is selected. Select the magic wand tool from the "Tools" Panel.

Choose to keep the color you want in the final image with the magic wand tool. You must adjust settings probably the wand in the magic wand tolerance bar. The higher is the tolerance of the magic wand with each click select more color variations. Hold the SHIFT key down and click to select multiple areas on the image.

Now re-enable the visibility of the black and white layer by click where the eye icon in the layers panel. The eye icon should again appear. Select the Eraser tool in the tools Panel and delete where the color will show through. Notice that the Eraser tool within the selected range will work.

Disable the image and right click on the image by choosing the magic wand tool again and choose "Clear selection".

Your picture is now complete.
